A remarkable wetland in Vescours is the Etang et marais des Paccauds, with protected animal and plant life as well as natural habitats worthy of protection.

The area covers 9.2 hectares and includes a pond and marshland. It is surrounded by woodland and features a variety of natural habitats. Culture and history

The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Vescours was transferred to the chapter of Saint-Vincent de Mâcon in the 11th century. A new bell tower was built on its façade in 1884–1885.

The Ferme de Montalibord has an unusually shaped Saracen chimney with a square, pyramid-shaped cap, an iron cross and triangular decorations. The farm was built in the mid-15th century and extended in the 16th century.

The privately owned Paccauds site can receive visitors as part of supervised educational excursions.

Hiking

The “Etangs bressans de Vescours et moulin Morel” hike is a moderately difficult 14-kilometre circular walking route. It begins in Vescours and takes around three hours.

The hike passes the Ferme de Montalibord and the 28-hectare Etang Morel, which is described as being known for its numerous birds and its mill. A picnic area is indicated for the hike and is available daily throughout the year.

Sightseeing

The restored building of the Ferme de Montalibord allows visitors to discover rural life in the Bresse region in the 19th century and the history of a family that has lived there for three generations. The Écomusée de la Ferme de Montalibord can be visited daily; paid guided tours are available on request.
