Holiday apartment in Pégomas: mimosas, trails and culture

Pégomas brings together mimosa cultivation, Mediterranean landscapes and cultural heritage in one place. Here you will find a weekly market, paths along the water, a woodland walk with views of the village and sea, as well as special insights into the processing of mimosa.

The market takes place year-round every Thursday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Place du Logis. It offers fresh and regional products, fruit, vegetables, handcrafted goods and other local products.

Woodland trails and the Siagne: two different routes

Two different walking experiences are the highlights for active days. The Sentier Clavary is a 2-kilometre circular trail with a walking time of 50 minutes, 150 metres of elevation gain and a moderate level of difficulty. It leads through Mediterranean woodland and offers views of the village and sea along the way. The Chemin de l’Ecluse walking trail begins in Pégomas, leads to Auribeau-sur-Siagne and runs along the banks of the Siagne.

Mimosa route and regional specialities

Pégomas is one of the municipalities crossed by the Route du Mimosa. Pégomas lies at kilometre 115 of the Route du Mimosa. The Jardin des mimosas is home to 11 varieties of mimosa.

Riviera Mimosa sells products made from mimosa, including syrup, jam, fragrances and soaps. Mimosa is harvested there from December to mid-March; eucalyptus is harvested during the rest of the year. Riviera Mimosa has been producing mimosa and eucalyptus for four generations. By appointment, Riviera Mimosa offers tours of the forcing greenhouse. In Pégomas, tours of greenhouses used for growing mimosa are also available. La Colline des Mimosas sells mimosa and eucalyptus foliage directly from the producer. La Colline des Mimosas produces small quantities of the “Grandiflorum” jasmine variety for perfumers in Grasse under the name “Jasmin de Grasse”.

Local cuisine and culture

The annual “Bal du mimosa” event opens the mimosa season in Pégomas with a dinner followed by dancing. Mimosa also features in the local cuisine: Mimosette is a seasonal pastry speciality created in Pégomas and available only during the mimosa season.

The Church of Saint-Pierre adds to the history of the town. The present building dates from the 18th century. Inside is a painting from the Napoleonic era depicting Saint Peter healing a paralysed man. The church also contains two gilded, polychrome wooden statues from the 18th century, one of Saint Peter and one of the Virgin Mary.

The market and regional products, Mediterranean woodland trails, the Chemin de l’Ecluse, the Route du Mimosa and Jardin des mimosas, as well as art and history at Saint-Pierre, offer different focal points in Pégomas. These are complemented by the mimosa products from Riviera Mimosa and La Colline des Mimosas, as well as the “Bal du mimosa”.
