The Citadelle Vauban de Seyne gives the town a distinctive historical profile: the elongated, bastion-fortified defensive complex has casemates; a double caponier leads to rear firing casemates. The actual citadel of the Citadelle Vauban de Seyne was built in 1693; Niquet and subsequently Vauban were initially involved in the fortification work on site. The complex is open year-round for individual visits and group tours and offers panoramic views of the Blanche mountain range and the Alpine valley.
When staying in Seyne, the wish to rent a holiday apartment may be part of your personal travel planning.
Culture
Notre Dame de Nazareth has been classified as a historic monument since 1842. The church was built no later than the 13th century and is an example of Romanesque art in Provence. The former medieval town fortifications include several interconnected building façades that form their curtain wall or at least mark its course. One town gate consists of a pointed-arch passage with a barrel vault.
La Maison du Mulet is a museum and an activity park that presents the mule and its history in the Pays de Seyne. The exhibitions shown there include “Le Miracle du Mulet” and “les Animaux, la Nuit”. On Thursdays in July and August, La Maison du Mulet also offers demonstrations of working with a mule as well as carriage rides.
