Beauvezer lies at an altitude of around 1,200 m in the upper Verdon valley and at the gates of Mercantour National Park. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Beauvezer can consider the village as a specific travel destination.
Nature and trails
The Sentier du Patrimoine is a marked trail of approximately 4.5 km that runs from the centre of Beauvezer above the Verdon and features information boards and two benches. The Gorges de Saint-Pierre form a gorge with steep rock faces along the Saint-Pierre mountain stream, hiking trails, an extensive coniferous forest, forest huts and a chapel.
The mountains Laupon and Crête du Pasquier are located in the immediate vicinity of Beauvezer. The Mouries mountain and the Sommet de Denjuan peak are also in the surrounding area.
Activities
The Espace trail de Beauvezer offers trail-running routes of 12 km and 35 km. The Bike Park de Beauvezer features jump lines with increasing levels of difficulty, elements for crossing and balancing, and a skills area.
The Parc Arbre Aventure in Beauvezer extends over 7 hectares of forest and includes activities at heights of 4 to 11 m as well as a zip line more than 100 m long.
Culture and history
The Chapelle Saint-Joseph dates back at least to the 17th century. Until 1865, it was the parish church of Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth; it was completely restored as part of renovation work in the last quarter of the 20th century.
The Chapelle Saint-Pierre also dates from before 1665. The year 1665 appears on a painting of Saints Peter and Paul that was documented in the chapel in 1708. The chapel, located on the mountainside east of Villars-Heyssier, has a rectangular floor plan, a porch, a nave and a semicircular apse.
The Chalve wool spinning mill, filature de laine Chalve, near Notre-Dame in Beauvezer is part of the heritage of the 19th-century wool industry. Plans to establish the spinning mill date back at least to 1838, and the extraction of water was approved in December 1853.
The Fort de Savoie is a fortress located in the area around Beauvezer. Churches in the wider regional area include the athédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption d'Entrevaux, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption and the Chapelle Saint-Michel de Cousson.
