Saint-Séverin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Moulin de la Barde preserves some remains dating from the 17th century. The Moulin de l’Épine was built as a paper mill in 1838 and used as a sawmill from 1987 onwards. The Moulin du Petit Marchais was built in 1837 on the site of an older mill dating from the 16th century.

The church of Saint-Séverin was the chapel of the castle, was destroyed during the Wars of Religion and reopened in 1595. Since 1876, the Marchais mill has housed the first French factory for parchment paper.

Landscape

The area of Saint-Séverin is naturally bounded by the three valleys of the Dronne and its tributaries, the Auzonne and Lizonne. The wooded hills of Les Gravières and Puy Giraud also form boundaries of the area.

The Circuit des gravières starts at the water tower in the hamlet of Le Peyrat. It offers panoramic views and a lookout point over the village of Saint-Séverin.

Water and Trails

The Circuit de la Vallée starts at the Saint-Séverin nautical landing stage in Le Dexmier bas, on the banks of the Dronne. The landing stage is equipped for picnics and fishing and has a canoe launching point towards Poltrot and Aubeterre.

The Circuit de la Vallée also offers a 3.3 km connection via Petit Bersac towards Poltrot. The Aire de pique-nique de Saint-Séverin offers a place to enjoy a meal directly by the water.
