History
The built and undeveloped parts of the Ancienne abbaye have been fully protected as a historic monument since 4 April 2017. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church was rebuilt in the 13th century and remodelled in the 15th century after the Hundred Years’ War. With the exception of the sacristy, the parish church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste has been listed as a historic monument since 13 November 1989.
The Chapelle du Boisaugeais was originally a priory dependent on the Notre-Dame Abbey of Nanteuil-en-Vallée. The Canal des Moines is also part of the village’s history: it was built in the 12th century to supply mills and tanneries with water.
Les grands greniers is a listed building that served as the abbey’s guesthouse.

Nature and walks
The Jardins de l’Argentor comprise a historic garden, a former botanical garden, a water garden created in the 1990s, and an arboretum designed by Eugène Bureau in 1932 with around 60 tree species, some of which are now protected.

Visit
Chez Galland features a medieval passageway, carved door lintels and a bread oven. From there, panoramic views extend over the rooftops of Nanteuil and the deeply carved Argentor Valley.
Admission to the Jardins de l’Argentor is free all year round. The Abbaye Notre Dame et Saint Benoît was open to visitors for a fee from May to September.
