Culture
In Saint-André-de-Lidon, the upper chapel and crypt of the Église Saint-André have been listed as historic monuments since a decree dated 25 September 1943. The church’s main construction phases date from the 12th and 17th centuries; the original building probably dates back to the 11th century.
The Musée d’hier et d’avant-hier originally grew out of Gabriel DIEU’s private collection. The collection documents the history of the village and the Saintonge region from prehistoric times to the beginning of the 20th century. On display are objects made and used by prehistoric inhabitants of the area, as well as objects that were still used on local farms a few decades ago.
The Musée d’hier et d’avant-hier has irregular opening hours and can be visited by prior appointment.
Those choosing Saint-André-de-Lidon as their destination can opt to rent a holiday apartment.
