The Église Saint-Cybard has been listed as a historic monument by decree of 27 February 1925. It has three naves and two Gothic portals; the left portal is designed in the Flamboyant style.

Nature and Activities

The 24-kilometre-long Canal Marans–La Rochelle passes through Périgny and is known locally there and in La Rochelle as the “Canal de Rompsay”.

The Vélodyssée, also known as the Véloroute Atlantique, follows the canal along a safe, signposted route known as the “Voie Verte”.

The Parc de Coureilles is a natural green space in the heart of Périgny, with diverse flora and impressive trees.

The Parc de Coureilles has boules courts, basketball and handball courts, a skate park, a children’s playground and walking paths.

The Rucher-dôme in the Parc de Coureilles is an immersive, sensory and educational experience that opened in 2023. Visitors can stay inside, experience the buzzing and activity of a beehive, and freely approach and observe bees without accompaniment or protective clothing.

P’Arc en Ciel has been open to the public since 1 July 2023; picnicking is permitted there.

Culture and History

Two towers stand on the Coureilles site at the entrance to the present-day Foyer rural. They are the only surviving remains of the medieval castle, which has since disappeared; the origins of the site date back at least to the 15th century.

The Médiathèque of Périgny offers free use of its collections on site and has its own exhibition area; registration is required to borrow documents.

The Refuges LPO de Périgny programme organises workshops on building nesting boxes and creating biodiversity areas in one’s own garden.
