Loix: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture
The construction date of Sainte-Catherine Church is unknown. However, it dates from the period after the beginning of the 14th century and was extended in the neoclassical style from 1827 onwards. The church contains a maritime ex-voto in the form of a frigate model, considered one of the two oldest on Île de Ré.
Atelier Quillet has been awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” designation and specialises in the conservation, restoration and binding of old documents. By reservation, the atelier offers 50-minute guided and commented workshop tours.
Loix & Savons offers free guided tours of its soap workshop. There, visitors can watch the artisanal production of soaps made from donkey’s milk, including the production of perfumed soaps.
Nature
The guided canoe trip with Canoë Salé also includes observing the local flora and fauna.
Activities
The accessible circular walk “Balade accessible à Loix” begins in Loix and is 2.3 kilometres long. It leads through the salt-marsh landscape to the tidal mill of Loix and has been awarded the “Tourisme & Handicap” certification.
Canoë Salé offers a 1.5-hour guided canoe trip to explore the Fier d’Ars. The local flora and fauna can be observed along the way.
Cuisine
The vines at Domaine Arica are cultivated organically. The vineyard covers 13 hectares between land and sea. From April onwards, Domaine Arica opens its wine cellar to visitors for a commented tour and a free wine tasting without reservation.
