La Jarrie: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In the centre of La Jarrie, the town is laid out around a ring road. Streets, lanes and passageways lead to the Place de la Mairie. The ten pedestrian lanes were formerly called “chemins de brouette” and are mostly paved. The Ruelle de la Voûte is one of the two covered passageways in the town centre known as “ballets”. Parks and gardens can be seen from some of the lanes.
Culture and History
The Minoterie Gautier, David et Cie was founded in 1901 at Le Grand-Moulin in La Jarrie. A Renaissance façade at 4 rue de la Madeleine bears the Protestant inscription “Post Tenebras Lux 1565”; since 2022, it has been listed as a Monument historique. La Jarrie is also home to eight public fountains that have been preserved and restored.
Leisure and Events
The children’s and leisure area at the Place de la Mairie is open all year round and has shaded picnic tables. There are indoor and outdoor tennis courts at 22, rue du Chemin vert. Ciné Jarrie offers one film screening per month from September to June.
The second edition of the Ronde des Ruelles took place on 9 March 2025. It included 5 km and 10 km races as well as a children’s race, with the streets and lanes of La Jarrie at the centre of the event.

Yélo bus route 18 connects La Jarrie with La Rochelle. In addition, regional bus route 4A operates on the La Rochelle–Aigrefeuille-d’Aunis–Surgères route.
