The Église Saint-Martin is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. It is protected in its entirety as a historic monument; it was granted protected status by decree dated 30 July 2002. The church hosts cultural events, particularly concerts. Every summer at the end of August, it hosts the Soirées musicales en Val de Seugne, which were founded in 1996. This series of events features internationally acclaimed performers, renowned young ensembles and jazz groups.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Compassion was built in the 18th century under the patronage of Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs. It commemorates 112 residents of Fontaines, including 47 children under the age of ten, who fell victim to the famine from September 1693 to July 1694. Every year on the evening of 15 August, a torchlight procession takes place at the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Compassion.
