Hem-Hardinval: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hem-Hardinval combines distinctive religious architecture with traces of its milling history and a village landscape unfolding along the Authie.

Culture

At the heart of Hem-Hardinval stands the Église de la Nativité-de-la-Sainte-Vierge, a 19th-century neo-Gothic church that replaced an older building. Its notable features include original stained-glass windows depicting the Stations of the Cross and a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary in the choir.

The Église de la Nativité de la Vierge is open to the public for a prayer vigil on the first Friday of each month and during the year's religious services.

The memorial stele for Norman R. Gellerman recalls the history of the village. It was erected in 1996 to commemorate the crash on the night of 2 March 1944 and remains the focus of commemorative ceremonies.

The mills also tell the story of the past: the old grain mill of Hem-Hardinval was built in the 17th century and has retained its waterwheel. The Moulin de Hem-Hardinval is a preserved relic of the mills that historically clustered along the Authie.

Village Landscape

The village's lanes offer the opportunity to discover its cultural heritage on foot. In the hamlet of Hardinval, visitors can still discover an impressive manor house, whose entrance is marked by a dovecote.

The Rue de Ricquemesnil runs along the Authie to the neighbouring village of Occoches. The Rue des Près provides a distinctive touch as a flower-filled and green street.

Water

On the Authie P2 canoe route, there is a landing point 8 km before the bridge at Hem-Hardinval on the right bank or – if travelling under the bridge on the left – after the bridge on the left bank.
