Ergnies: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ergnies preserves much of the medieval heritage of the village circuit along the “rue d’Autour”. This area is, in principle, undevelopable and inalienable.

Natural Environment

Ergnies is part of the classified Regional Nature Park “Baie de Somme Picardie Maritime” in the Somme département. The park’s classification applies for 15 years from the publication of the decree.

Culture and History

Surrounded by its cemetery, the Church of Saint-Vulfran is a landmark in the village of Ergnies. It preserves regional architectural features: walls made of chalk rubble stone combined with brick, a slate-covered roof, and a polygonal slate-covered spire.

The large rectangular dwelling in Ergnies is known as “le château”. It has a ground floor and two upper floors, a slate-covered gabled roof with dormer windows, and brick-and-stone masonry. A calvary surrounded by lime trees on the rue d’Hémimont marks an old village boundary of Ergnies.

The choir of the Church of Saint-Vulfran in Ergnies was destroyed during the Second World War by stray bombs. These bombs were originally intended to destroy the V1 launch sites in the area of Gorenflos.

Landscape and Paths

Two concentric paths run around the village: one has a diameter of approximately 530 metres, and the other approximately 800 metres. The smaller one is still very complete and visible, while the larger one was altered by land consolidation by more than 35%.

Ergnies has preserved one of its village ponds. It formerly served as a watering place for livestock or as a water reserve and now enhances the village. The pastures or bocage meadows surrounded by hedges mark the former presence of the Courtil. Green footpaths characterize Ergnies’s public space, have landscape value, and contribute to the village’s rural identity.

Nature Observation

The activity “Ergnies, son courtil et ses oiseaux” leads through Ergnies’s bocage belt and along the paths beside the hedges. The birds native to the area are introduced along the way.
