Parfondeval reveals its history in a place that is still accessible today: the Église fortifiée Saint-Médard, open all year round, allows visitors to climb to the upper floor, where they can see the guard and refuge chamber. The Église Saint-Médard was built in the mid-16th century.

Culture
The “La Maison des Outils d’Antan” museum displays more than 2,000 objects collected at flea markets or donated. It provides insights into rural occupations practised around 1900; it can only be visited by prior reservation.
Parfondeval has houses typical of the Thiérache, built of red brick with slate roofs. The Protestant temple of Parfondeval dates from 1858. The washhouse of Parfondeval was a place used exclusively by women, where laundry was washed.
Landscape
The rural surroundings of Parfondeval include meadows, apple orchards and bocage landscapes. On Parfondeval’s village square there is a pond, the last remnant of six former ponds. These were used for watering livestock and as water reservoirs for firefighting.
“Par le fond du val” is the starting point of a path between apple orchards and small deciduous forests.

The interpretation trail through Parfondeval is 1.4 km long and classified as very easy. It includes around a dozen interesting stops. At each stop along the trail, the free “Chouette Aventure” app offers mini-games that allow visitors to discover Parfondeval’s monuments and landscapes.
