Culture and History

Oisy is home to the parish church of Saint Nicholas. It was built from 1822 to 1825, completely destroyed in October 1918, and rebuilt from 1924 to 1929. Its choir windows depict Christ and Saint Nicholas; the church also features sculptures and stained-glass windows.

The war memorial in Oisy for the wars of 1914–1918 and 1939–1945 is made of blue limestone and decorated with a laurel branch. The Château-ferme de l’Arrouaise is also known as Grande Arrouaise.

The historic site of Abbaye de Bohéries is located in the vicinity of Oisy. In the wider region around Oisy are the historic site of Abbaye de Montreuil les Dames, Château de Beaurevoir, and the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fervaques.

Water and Landscapes

The Canal de la Sambre à l’Oise was opened for navigation in 1839. The 65 km-long canal connects Landrecies with La Fère and runs through Oisy. It then passes through the bocage landscapes of Thiérache and Avesnois on its way to Belgium.

The canal is popular with numerous pleasure boaters. Inland navigation on the Canal de la Sambre à l’Oise resumed on 1 July.
