Parigné-Le-Pôlin: Holiday Apartments and Houses

More than half of Parigné-le-Pôlin’s area is covered by woodland; rural paths lead through the countryside and forest. In addition, four hiking trails start at the town hall of Parigné-le-Pôlin, covering a total of 37 km.

Nature

The trails differ in length and duration. The red hiking trail “Le Coeur” is 4.3 km long and takes about one hour. The blue hiking trail “Le Bleu” covers 10 km and takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. The yellow hiking trail “Le Grand” is 15 km long and takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Culture and History

The Saint-Pierre Church in Parigné-le-Pôlin was rebuilt and expanded in the 15th century. It has eight stained-glass windows depicting the Passion of Christ, designed by Robert Micheau-Vernez in 1944; Robert Micheau-Vernez also painted the 14 Stations of the Cross there. The painting “Assomption” is located in the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Church in Parigné-le-Pôlin.

The municipal washhouse in Parigné-le-Pôlin dates from 1838 and was renovated in 2007. The dolmen “La Pierre couverte” is a small megalith at the entrance to the heath below the Butte du Bruon hill and is associated with local legends.

The Château de Montertreau includes an English landscape garden designed by Édouard André in 1873, with monumental trees and exotic plant species. The Château de Montertreau itself was built in the 19th century and preserves original interior furnishings as well as Art Deco mosaics from the 1930s. Access to the Château de Montertreau from Parigné-le-Pôlin is via the signs to the “centre équestre de la Vallée”.
