History and Architectural Heritage
The Église Saint-Nicolas is thought to have been founded in the 11th century; its first written mention dates from a document dating to 1088–1099. The church has been classified as a Monument Historique by decree of 25 August 1909. Its furnishings include classified stained-glass windows from the 16th century, modern stained-glass windows by Max Ingrand and Michel Durand, and twenty wooden or stone statues dating from the 15th to the 17th century. The bell tower houses “Régulus”, which depicts a Roman general; the Jacquemart has struck every hour there since 1826.
The Prieuré de la Sainte Trinité was a Benedictine priory affiliated with the Abbey of Bec-Hellouin. Its surviving entrance gallery and the remains of the church date from the 13th century; since 1916, the priory has been classified as a Monument Historique. Its esplanade offers extensive views over Beaumont-le-Roger and the Risle Valley.
The Manoir du Hom is an architectural ensemble with a triple row of moats, pavilions dating from the late 16th to the early 17th century, and elongated half-timbered buildings housing the stables. This ensemble can only be viewed from the path leading to the Fontaine à Roger fish farm.
The rural sanctuary Fanum de Saint-Marc and numerous remains still visible in the forest attest to the Gallo-Roman presence in the territory of Beaumont-le-Roger in the 5th and 6th centuries.
Nature and Trails
The municipal circular trail “Circuit n° 1 – nature et Patrimoine” is marked in blue, is 12.2 km long, and takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. It is easy for hikers, cyclists, and horse riders to complete.
The also blue-marked circular trail “Circuit n° 4 – le Hom” is 9.8 km long, takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, and starts at Beaumont-le-Roger Town Hall.
The circular trail “Circuit n° 5 – la Chapelle Saint-Marc” partially follows the GR 224 along the former road to Bernay. A circular route also passes by the former priory.
The Planchettes motorhome area has ten pitches and a supply and disposal facility with connections for wastewater, service water, water, and electricity. It is a five-minute walk from the town centre.
Parc Chantereine offers tennis, kayaking, and games for children.
