Walks

The “Thaon – La Mue” walk begins at the car park of the Maison du Temps Libre behind the town hall.

On the 6 km “Thaon – la Vieille Eglise – La Mue” walk, you reach the Romanesque church after 700 metres. The route leads to the Vieille Eglise and along the eastern side of the Mue Valley.

“Thaon – Petit tour du village” is a 6 km village walk.

On the “Sur les rives de la Mue” route, visitors can admire castles, manor houses and numerous buildings with remarkable architecture or history.

Culture and History

The Château de Thaon was built in construction campaigns in 1624 and 1732. It is partly listed as a historic monument; the protection of 27 July 1978 covered the façades and roofs, the staircase with its wrought-iron railing, as well as the small salon with its Louis XV furnishings on the first floor.

The Vieille église Saint-Pierre de Thaon is a Norman Romanesque religious building from the 11th to 12th century and is among the first historic monuments to have been classified in 1840.

In the 1970s, the Moulin du Vivier was known by the name “Mine à Poivre”.
