The Église Saint-Pierre was built in the 11th century on a sanctuary featuring a sarcophagus necropolis dating from the 6th century. Its Romanesque tower contains rare capitals in the Anglo-Scandinavian style, which are unique in Normandy. The tower also has a viewing terrace overlooking the sea, the village and the surrounding countryside.
The Galerie d'art Le Trianon is located near the beach. The Sword Beach section of the landing on 6 June 1944 extended from Ouistreham to Lion-sur-Mer. Sea bathing tourism began in Lion-sur-Mer in the 19th century; the town’s immediate proximity to the coast and the possibility of building summer residences along the shore encouraged this development.
The seaside villas between Lion-sur-Mer and Hermanville-sur-Mer were built by wealthy families in the 19th century and feature a great variety of architectural styles.

Coast and Countryside
The Falaise des Confessionnaux is 2 km long and 8 m high; its caves resemble old church confessionals. The Plage des Confessionnaux is a rocky beach lined by the Confessionnaux cliffs. Shellfish are collected and fossils searched for on this beach.
The Confessionnaux cliffs should be viewed from a distance of at least 10 metres because of the risk of falling rocks.
Beaches
Plage du Bas-Lion is a fine-sand beach supervised by lifeguards.
