Culture

The Église Saint-Pierre in Bricqueville has been fully classified as a historic monument since 31 December 1862. Its tympanum is decorated with sculptures and a bas-relief depicting the Annunciation. Inside, a rood beam and two Baroque altarpieces separate the nave from the choir. There is also a protected ensemble consisting of the high altar, altar steps, tabernacle and altarpiece.

History

The history of 1944 is also connected with Bricqueville. From 6 July to 5 August 1944, the 44th Evacuation Hospital was established in the area of Bricqueville, where it treated a total of 4,499 wounded soldiers. That same year, the 115th Infantry Regiment captured the municipality of Bricqueville after advancing through marshland.

Nature

The pastures of Ferme de Bricqueville are located in a Natura 2000 site and feature a diverse flora. Near the town hall, cattle graze among recently blossoming apple trees. From April to November, the animals at Ferme de Bricqueville remain outdoors and receive no supplementary feed. In winter, they are fed exclusively with hay and other feed from the farm’s own meadows.

Classification

Bricqueville is one of the 59 municipalities in the Isigny-Omaha tourist destination. An annual picnic was scheduled to take place in Bricqueville on Sunday, 6 July 2025.
