The tourist railway Chemin de Fer Touristique de la Vallée de l’Aa runs between Arques and Lumbres along 15 km of railway line. Anyone choosing Lumbres as a holiday destination will want to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Sulpice in Lumbres was built between 1854 and 1863 in the Neo-Gothic style according to plans by the architect Alexandre Grigny. It was constructed from local limestone sourced from the La Montagne quarry. A restoration project carried out in 2010 stabilised the tower, restored the spire and renovated the nave.
In the vicinity of Lumbres is the ancient site Site archéologique de Thérouanne. Also nearby are the historic site Abbaye Saint-Bertin, the monastery Abbaye Sainte-Colombe and the ruins of Abbaye de Clairmarais.

The Centre Aquatique L'Aa Piscine in Lumbres is a family and sports swimming centre with two swimming pools, a leisure area for children, a fitness area and an outdoor area with a sunbathing lawn. The facilities include aquabiking, aquajumping, aquagym, swimming lessons, advanced courses for adults and children, and baby swimming.
The Hôtel de la Gare escape game in Lumbres is set in the atmosphere of the railway hotel from the 1920s. The Ferme équestre Les Ardents offers horse or pony riding for people of all ages.
Nature and Outdoor Activities
The 5.5 km-long Lumbres–Remilly-Wirquin greenway runs through the countryside and can be used on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
The VTT centre at the tourist office in Lumbres offers a washing, inflation and repair station, as well as showers, sanitary facilities, lockers and a changing room. The washing station is closed from October to March; the other facilities mentioned are accessible during the tourist office’s opening hours.
