Culture and History
The Chapelle Saint-Pierre d’Ax was built in the 13th and 14th centuries and was initially assigned to the lordship of Montesquieu. It has a regionally typical triangular bell gable with three sound openings; one of them houses a 16th-century bell weighing around 137 kilograms. On Sundays, the chapel is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Easter to All Saints’ Day.
Boudou’s cultural heritage also includes a medieval fountain. The historic site of Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Moissac is located in the surrounding area. The Abbaye de Belleperche monastery is also nearby.
In the wider region around Boudou are Château de Pérignon and Château de Frescati.
Trails and Landscape
The marked circular hiking trail “Circuit de la Chapelle Saint-Pierre d’Ax” is 8.3 kilometres long and leads through valleys, orchards and Chasselas vineyards. Boudou is also located on the GR 65 towards Santiago de Compostela.
