Culture
In the Église Notre Dame de l’Assomption de Sariac-Magnoac, two Roman altars serve as holy-water fonts. Both altar objects were classified as protected historic objects on 12 July 1912. The wall paintings depict twelve scenes from the Passion of Christ. The painted decoration also includes four medallions showing the attributes of the Evangelists, four prophets and four sibyls, distributed across the vault caps.
The vault paintings are considered particularly significant for the discovery of Gascon wall painting from the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 16th century. The wall paintings were discovered around the year 2000 during restoration and uncovering work on the walls in the choir and nave.
