The Église Saint-Martin in Arcizans-Avant has Romanesque origins and was completely restored in the 17th century. By decree of 21 March 1979, it was listed as a historic monument. The church is open to visitors.
The site known as the “Butte du château dit du Prince Noir” was listed by decree of 29 January 1944. Today, only the keep and the surrounding walls remain of the feudal castle in Arcizans-Avant; the keep dates from the 14th century.
The Saint-Roch Chapel has been documented since 1656. Between 1658 and 1697, it was sometimes referred to as N-D de la Castère. A church investigation in 1783 recorded that the chapel was the starting point for two pilgrimages: one on the eve of the anniversary of the birth of the Virgin Mary and one on Saint Roch’s Day.

Nature
The “Moun Né de Cauterets, Pic de Cabaliros” Natura 2000 site also extends across the municipal territory of Arcizans-Avant. In the northern part of Cabaliros, hiking is one of the area’s summer tourist activities. In winter, ski touring is practised there, particularly in the direction of Cabaliros.
Trails
La Boucle de l'Arrieulat passes through Arcizans-Avant. The route is a moderately difficult circular hike covering 6.1 km, with a stated duration of three hours, and can be walked year-round.
The Circuit VTT n°10 – Val d'Azun – Le Cabaliros also passes through Arcizans-Avant. A hiking route from Arcizans-Avant leads from Lac d'Arcizans via the Cami Dera Montanha towards Pic du Cabaliros.
Geographical Location
The Saint-Roch Chapel can be reached from the village via the path to the clearly visible pylon; near the summit, a slate plaque on the left indicates the location. The Église Saint-Martin is less than a 30-minute walk from the ARGELÈS-GAZOST – Lycée & Collège stop.
