Nature

The Réserve Naturelle du Lac Lamartine comprises five lakes. They form part of a body of water created through the exploitation of the former riverbed of the Garonne. In addition, the Maison de la Nature offers environmental education activities on fish, birds, waste and trees throughout the year.

Culture and History

Le Moulin is a cultural meeting place in the town of Roques, as well as a place of life, culture and exchange for everyone. The Moulin de Roques was built from 1847 onwards to meet the flour needs of the municipalities south of Toulouse. It replaced an older floating mill called a “moulin à nef”, which dated from the 14th century.

The stone obelisk of Roques can be visited on the Chemin du Castelet. The Church of Saint-Martin in Roques houses a statue of Saint Roch, an altarpiece with five paintings and a gilded wooden chandelier. The statue of Saint Roch dates from the 15th century or the first quarter of the 16th century and was registered as a protected object in 2005. The altarpiece is registered as a protected object and comprises five paintings: the Crucifixion, as well as depictions of Saint Luke, Saint Mark, Saint Matthew and Saint John. The 17th-century chandelier is made of gilded wood and is classified as a protected object.
