Aussonne lies on a hill above the plain on the left bank of the Garonne between Grenade and Toulouse. The Aussonnelle is one of the three main waterways that flow through Aussonne; the Panariol has been partially landscaped.
Culture and History
The present-day Notre-Dame du Rosaire church replaced an earlier building following a royal decree dated 17 September 1519. Its western bell tower is a hexagonal tower in the Toulouse Gothic style. The Notre-Dame du Rosaire church has been classified as a historic monument since 1926.
The Château de Laubarède is an architectural relic and was formerly a noble fief in Aussonne. The Fontaine de Saint-Cyr is associated with a traditional annual procession held on 16 June, the feast day of Saint Cyr.

The path along the Panariol has been redeveloped as a secure walking route and is suitable for people with reduced mobility.
The Houbl’Aussonne festival took place on Saturday, 30 May 2026, from 2 p.m. until midnight at Place Jean Jaurès in Aussonne, in front of the Gymnase Pierre Denis. Admission was free, and the festival was open to the whole family.
