Rieupeyroux lies in the Ségala region, characterised by granite and schist landscapes, where open plateaus are interrupted by valley floors. The medieval townscape of Rieupeyroux preserves the arcades of the Place du Gitat.
Those who have chosen Rieupeyroux as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Martial is listed as a French historic monument (Monument historique).
It includes the remains of the original Romanesque church, including several columns and capitals.
In 1356, at the beginning of the Hundred Years’ War, the church was fortified and incorporated into the town walls. Its features include a defensive gallery and machicolations.
The Chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Modulance stands on the 804-metre-high Mount Modulance and overlooks the Ségala region.
