Creissels: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Among Creissels’ notable landmarks is the Moulin à aiguiser du Tournal: it is considered a unique cultural heritage site in Aveyron and was restored in 2017.

Culture

The building known as the “Prieuré” probably dates from the first half of the 13th century. It has two floors; each floor contains a large room with two twin windows whose capitals rest on polygonal columns.

The Château de Creissels stands on a rocky promontory and overlooks the village’s old tuff houses. Excavations in 1961 in the prehistoric Grotte des Deux trous uncovered significant Chalcolithic finds. Traces of graves carved into the tuff can still be seen at the former Cimetière vieux de Saint-Saturnin.

Nature

The Grotte du Boundoulaou is protected by a prefectural decree for the protection of biotopes and is home to a colony of several thousand bats.

Five of the seven pillars of the A75 viaduct known as the Viaduc de Millau stand in Creissels.

Landscape

The Route Trail N°03 - Creissels leads from the Calades of Creissels up to the paths of the Larzac Plateau; one section runs along the rocky cliffs overlooking the Viaduc de Millau. The Corniches du Larzac route also runs along the rocky cliffs of the Larzac Plateau and offers remarkable views of Millau and its viaduct.

Water

Les Bateliers du Viaduc set off from Creissels for an 8-kilometre boat trip. During the guided trip, visitors learn about the local history, traditions and special features, as well as the geology, fauna and flora.

The “Canoë 8 km à Millau” option is an unguided 8-kilometre descent, with opportunities to stop for swimming or a picnic along the way. The “Canoë 8 km à Millau” option offered by Millau Aventure is an 8-kilometre canoe trip on the Tarn, provided from the base located in Creissels.
