Culture and History
The Church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption in Rimont dates back to the 17th century, while its bell tower dates back to the 13th century. The Abbey of Combelongue in Rimont was founded in 1138 by the Count of Pallars. It is a Romanesque historic monument; the abbey church of Combelongue is fitted with contemporary stained-glass windows.
Places of Remembrance
The Fontaine de la Bielle was formerly used by the villagers and their livestock. It is carved from solid blocks of pink marble. The memorial trail begins at Place du 8 mai 1945 on the Foix–Saint-Girons connecting route.
Routes and Paths
The Foix–Saint-Girons–Prat-Bonrepaux Greenway offers an approximately 30 km cycling route from Rimont to Saint-Lizier and back. At the former Rimont railway station, you can temporarily leave the Vélosud Greenway to discover the Abbey of Combelongue. The garden of the Abbey of Combelongue is less than a ten-minute walk from the “RIMONT – Place” stop on the Foix–Saint-Girons lines.
