Silly-Sur-Nied: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The “Silly-sur-scène” festival takes place every year in May and welcomes theater groups from other regions. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Silly-sur-Nied can plan their stay in this location.

Culture and townscape

Silly-sur-Nied has several old barns and farmhouses, as well as manor houses dating from the early 20th century. Pierre Vagner had the Croix du Russe built out of gratitude after surviving the Crimean War. The Croix du Russe is located on the route des Etangs and was blessed in 1896 by Silly’s priest, Abbé Maire. There are also three calvaries in Silly-sur-Nied; they may have lined processions for the blessing of the fields.

Le Verger de Silly-sur-Nied is a municipal orchard project with fruit trees, plants, and berry bushes.

Nature and landscape

The Les Chiennes stream crosses Silly-sur-Nied and is 2.2 km long. The Nied forms the eastern boundary of the municipal area and part of its northern boundary. Silly-sur-Nied’s natural heritage includes traditional orchards on the slopes, gardens, hedges, notable trees, wet meadows, streams, and riparian woodland.

On the immediate outskirts of the town, there are rural wetlands with riparian woodland, hedges, and meadows. Paths are intended to connect these areas with the built-up and rural areas.

Activities

The hiking trail in Silly-sur-Nied starts at the mairie car park, climbs up to the sports field, and reaches the forest via farm tracks. Since 2019, there has also been a boules area with two pétanque courts. An outdoor street-workout facility installed on June 7, 2025, is intended for all age groups.

Location

Silly-sur-Nied can be reached via the RD603, the former RN3. This road connects Metz with Forbach via Saint-Avold.
