Culture and History

Saint-Nabor Abbey was founded in 722; in 765, the relics of Saint Nabor were deposited there. The choir of Saint-Nabor Abbey Church contains the work “Christ en croix”. The church also has a French classical-style organ built by Barthélémy Chevreux in 1770–1771.

The Chapelle Sainte-Croix is a late-15th-century building in the Flamboyant Gothic style, classified as a historic monument. Below the chapel is a Way of the Cross dating from the 17th century.

The Chapelle des comtes de Créhange was built around 1570 in the former Freie Haus of the Counts of Créhange. It is an authentic chapel in the Flamboyant Gothic style.

Sightseeing

The American Military Cemetery covers 113.5 acres and is considered the largest American military cemetery from the Second World War in Europe. It is open year-round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; admission is free. A viewpoint on the cemetery’s eastern hill offers views over the entire cemetery and the landscape to the west.

The Chapelle des comtes de Créhange can be visited independently free of charge; guided tours are available on request.

The Complexe nautique de la Communauté d’Agglomération Saint-Avold Synergie has indoor pools and offers special times for older people and pregnant women. It also has lanes for experienced swimmers, as well as for fin swimming, and offers swimming lessons.

Coco Park in Saint-Avold offers carousels and other rides, go-karting, trampolines, slides, and mazes across 3,000 m². The park is aimed at children aged 0 to 12.
