Baerenthal: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

To the west, the Grand Étang de Baerenthal borders the village of Baerenthal. The Zinsel du Nord, a first-category stream, runs through the village along its entire length. The Ramstein Plage bathing facility lies between the Grand Étang de Baerenthal and the Zinsel du Nord; it offers a body of water for swimming.

Nature

The Grand Étang de Baerenthal is an ornithological nature reserve. The natural area also includes the Baerenthal fishing pond, which is part of the “Rochers et Tourbières du Pays de Bitche” nature reserve. The fishing pond can be accessed daily via a machine on site.

Exploring the area

The local Club Vosgien maintains around 150 kilometres of marked trails around Baerenthal. The GR 53 also crosses the municipal territory. There is a freely accessible Üte rest area on the GR®53 in Baerenthal.

The Ramstein Plage bathing facility includes a shady walking path. It runs along the avenue of birch trees and the canal, returns through the forest behind the campsite to the starting point, and thus connects the aforementioned sections of the path within the facility.

Culture and history

The Château de Ramstein was built at the end of the 13th century by the Lords of Falkenstein at the behest of the Bishop of Strasbourg. At the site, footbridges and information panels allow visitors to discover some architectural elements. The ruins of the Château de Ramstein became accessible again after stabilisation work in 2009 and 2010.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Confiance was inaugurated in August 1886. It is located on the 3.7-kilometre circular route “au grès du chemin...notre histoire”, which passes through the village.
