Culture and history
The Church of Saint-Gorgon in Woël was built in the 12th century. The bell tower and the pillars in the central nave have been preserved from this construction phase. The fortified Basilica of Saint-Gorgon also has a gate tower crowned by a hourd from the 12th century, as well as a Gothic choir from the 16th century.

Several old houses with features of traditional rural architecture have been preserved in Woël, including the house at 6 rue du Moulin. The traditional rural house at 6 rue du Moulin still has a chicken-coop window with its access steps.
Gallo-Roman remains at the “Devant Tagnières” site near Woël show that people had settled there a long time ago.
The château in Woël was built in 1868. During the First World War, the château housed an observatory from which German forces could observe the fighting at Les Éparges.
The Château Couchot served as a German military field hospital in 1914, specialising in the treatment of eye conditions.
Landscape and setting
Woël lies in the plain along the Rû de Signeulles. At the same time, the village is situated on the Chaussée austrasienne, which connects Pont-à-Mousson and Verdun.
There are Gallo-Roman ruins in the immediate vicinity of Woël.
