Culture and Architectural History
The Church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens was partially rebuilt between 1775 and 1779. Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens is a hall church with a polygonal chancel and a bell tower projecting from the façade.
The Fontaine-lavoir of Houdelaincourt dates from 1851. Until the mid-20th century, local washerwomen used it to wash laundry in the building. The outdoor area of the Fontaine-lavoir of Houdelaincourt was used for watering cattle.
Faith and Remembrance
The Notre-Dame-de-Consolation Chapel was built in 1921 after the parish of Houdelaincourt vowed to build a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary if Houdelaincourt were spared by the war. Notre-Dame-de-Consolation is a pilgrimage site.
The Sacré-Cœur Monument stands on the outskirts of Houdelaincourt and is located in the Ornain Valley. The central statue of the Sacré-Cœur Monument was erected in 1945 to thank God that the village had been spared by the Nazi occupier.
