The Église Saint-Maurice in Damvillers has been fully classified as a historic monument since 9 June 1921. The church has major construction phases dating from the 15th and 18th centuries.
The statue of Maréchal Gérard was inaugurated in 1858 in honour of E. M. Gérard, a marshal and Peer of France who was born in Damvillers. Remains of the former Porte de Verdun, associated with the period of Spanish occupation, have been preserved in Damvillers. The town’s fortifications probably date back to the 13th century and include a major construction phase from the 16th century.
Paths and Nature
The Ballastières de Damvillers are an area of almost 20 hectares near the River Thinte, created from a former gravel and sand extraction site. The Ballastières include a viewpoint and an observation post, which introduce the area’s ecological diversity to the public. An approximately 1 km educational circular trail is freely accessible there all year round.
The Circuit Jules Bastien-Lepage circular trail leads on foot through the streets and hilly landscape of Damvillers and displays ten paintings by the artist. White storks were reintroduced to Damvillers in 1991; eleven white stork nests are currently recorded there.
