Saint-Robert has held the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” label since 1982. The village is located in the Yssandonnais and rises to an altitude of 350 metres on the limestone spur of Murel Hill. From here, views extend towards the Elle Valley, a tributary of the Vézère, in the direction of Ayen, as well as towards the Dalon Valley, a tributary of the Auvézère, in the direction of Segonzac.

Landscape
The municipality of Saint-Robert includes three type I ZNIEFF natural areas of major local ecological importance. The Jardin Philippe Ranoux has two terraces offering panoramic views of the Elle Valley and the characteristic hilly landscape of the Yssandonnais.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Robert preserves around 60 original capitals, 51 of which are still in their original positions. It also houses a 13th-century Spanish crucifix, which was classified as a historic object in 1925.
The Chapelle du Verneuil dates from the 16th century and is the only surviving evidence of Château Verneuil. The restored chapel welcomes visitors and features a permanent exhibition of contemporary art. The medieval village of Saint-Robert served as a filming location in 1983 for the television series “Des Grives aux Loups”, based on a novel by Claude Michelet.
The Festival de Saint Robert has been an important part of the village’s cultural life since 1972 and is accompanied by an art exhibition. A procession takes place every year at the Fontaine de Saint-Maurice before the Mass on 15 August.
Things to Do
The “La Corrézienne VTT” mountain bike route passes through Saint-Robert and offers around 1,000 kilometres of cycling trails throughout Corrèze. The “Les contemplations de Saint-Robert” geocaching route by Tèrra aventura leads from one station to the next through a series of consecutive puzzles.
The “Randonnée des deux villages” route connects Ayen and Saint-Robert, passing castles, old houses, fountains, walnut groves and wide-open landscapes. A hike between Saint-Robert and Ayen crosses the limestone hills, or butte témoins, of the Yssandonnais.
The Fontaine de Saint-Maurice can be reached from the village centre on foot or by car via the Route d’Ayen. In July and August, several guided tours of the village are offered in cooperation with Brive-Tourisme.
Regional Specialities
Saint-Robert has numerous walnut groves, including several at the entrances to the medieval village centre. The village also lies along a route of “La route de la noix”, which runs through the green valleys planted with walnut trees in Corrèze, Dordogne and Lot.
