Estavar: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Estavar is located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes. In the surrounding area, the Sentier historique leads to a 380° panoramic view from the summit of the hill of Llívia, as well as to the ruins and excavations of the Château de Llívia.

Walking routes

The Discovery of the Springs is an easy 1.5 km walk that begins at the church of Estavar. The Sentier historique begins at the Église Sant Julien d’Estavar. It crosses the Estagouge stream, which serves as a boundary, and then leads towards Llívia.

PR 79 – L’Hippopotame is a 9.0 km moderately difficult circular hiking trail that takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and begins at Bajande station. At the start, the trail follows the Estavar irrigation canal. PR 79 – L’Hippopotame also leads to a 360° panorama across the entire Cerdagne.

Culture

The Roman road “Strata Ceretana” ran through the territory of Estavar and connected Llívia with the hamlet of Caillastres in the direction of Eyne and the Têt Valley.

The Église Saint-Julien d’Estavar is documented as dating from the 11th century; visits are organised through the Mairie of Estavar. The Chapelle Saint-Barthélemy de Bajande is also documented as dating from the 11th century and is located along the continuation of the Way of St. James. The Chapelle St Barthélemy in Bajande contains two collection plates from the 16th century.

Other highlights

In the hamlet of Caillastres, you can buy honey from the Cerdagne. Montagne Sauvage also offers sylvotherapy modules, i.e. forest bathing.
