Culture and History
The Église Notre-Dame in Baixas has been classified as a historic monument by decree since 10 December 1982. It has Romanesque origins, a large nave with a ribbed vault, and side chapels between the buttresses. In the Rosary altarpiece, the central niche contains a statue of the Virgin and Child.
The Église de la Nativité de Notre-Dame in Baixas can be visited independently with the help of lecterns providing explanations about the chapels and the high altar. The medieval fortifications of Baixas comprise eight towers and five entrance gates. The Porte Notre-Dame gate has an intact arch and an intact vault.
