Culture
The original Château de Puissalicon was probably built by the lords of Puissalicon in the 11th or 12th century. It was probably reinforced by the Boussagues family through the construction of two round towers; their rusticated bases indicate the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century.
Notre-Dame-de-Pitié was rebuilt in 1337. The church has a single nave and features a ribbed vault as well as a seven-sided, likewise rib-vaulted apse. Its west portal has three splayed archivolts resting on capitals sculpted with naturalistic plant motifs.
The circulades of Puissalicon comprise three rings of fortifications surrounded by thick walls and three gates. The Porte des Pradelles is particularly well preserved.
Landscape
A projecting semicircular viewing point at Château de Puissalicon offers an excellent view of the surrounding landscape.
Cycling route
The touring route “Boucle Cyclo N°15 – Balade sur la route des vignobles biterrois” includes a section from Magalas railway station to Puissalicon and does not use major traffic routes. This section can be reached from Magalas railway station without a car.
