Mireval: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Creux de Miège is located in the Garrigue area of Mireval at the foot of the Massif de la Gardiole and is now protected by a prefectural decree for the protection of biotopes.

Nature

The Creux de Miège is a spectacular rocky basin in Mireval. Its formation is attributed either to the collapse of an underground cavity or to an ancient sea inlet hollowed out by the waves.

The history of the Creux de Miège dates back more than 6,000 years. Its caves served as shelters for Neolithic populations and Iron Age shepherds; numerous archaeological finds, such as tools, jewellery, ceramics and traces of burial rites, bear witness to this.

Wine

The Muscat de Mireval designation of origin has been recognised since December 1959.

Muscat de Mireval is an AOP Vin doux naturel made exclusively from grapes of the Muscat à petit grain variety.

The Domaine de la Belle Dame winery welcomes visitors among the vineyards and explains the vinification of Vin doux naturels.

Culture and History

The historic centre of Mireval is laid out as a Circulade between the fortified Porte de Montpellier and the Porte d’Amont. Both gates provide access to the old town centre.

The free, permanent Les Étangs art trail of Balades Artistiques en Méditerranée runs through Mireval and includes installations by Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Hervé Di Rosa, Victoria Klotz, Ève Laroche-Joubert and AgnèsRosse.

The Église Sainte-Eulalie was completed in 1901 and stands on the remains of the former seigneurial castle. Its bell-tower porch is flanked by two stair turrets.
