Jacou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The „Parcours Bleu“ of „Chemins de traverse“ is a 2 km-long route. It starts in front of the École élémentaire Condorcet and ends in front of the media library and town hall of Jacou. Along the way, it passes through a pine forest and follows the La Ribeyrolle stream to the entrance of Parc Bocaud.

Paths and landscapes

Las Bouzigues has been designed as a pleasant walking route through various Mediterranean plant species in a wooded setting. Serre-Blanc is mentioned, together with Bel-Air and the botanical path of Las Bouzigues, as a place for walking; the landscape is described as including pine forest and olive grove.

Opened in 2019, the La-Mayre path is accessible to everyone, including people with reduced mobility. It runs from the entrance to Jacou at the junction of Avenue de Vendargues and Rue Antoine Blanchemain to the La Draye district, following a stream. A flower meadow can be discovered along the La-Mayre path; there is also a fig conservatory there.

History and gardens

A cultural and historical walk through the old center of Jacou leads to the spring and the decorated grotto, the former parish church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens, the washhouse, the water reservoir, and the Maison de la Coquille.

The garden of the 18th-century Parc et jardin de Bocaud has been classified as a historic monument since 2000. Near the lake, the garden of Bocaud includes a grotto-nymphaeum decorated with rockwork and shells.

Visitors can stroll through the terraced gardens of the Château de Bocaud; the interior is not open to visitors. The Domaine de Bocaud is listed as historic heritage, while the Parc de Bocaud is classified as historic heritage.

Culture and events

The red loop of „Chemins de traverse“ is dedicated to sport and shares some anecdotes about the history and sporting environment of the municipality of Jacou. Every year, Jacou welcomes the ChÅ“ur Occitan de Clapiers Universellement T’apprécié to La Passerelle for a concert of Occitan songs as part of the „Soirées occitanes de Jacou“.

At the spring event „Jacou a du ChÅ“ur“, nearly 600 young people from Jacou have performed at La Passerelle every spring for almost ten years. The public program at La Passerelle includes music, circus, theater, and film events, as well as contemporary dance performances and workshops.
