Culture
The Vieux pont sur l'Orb was built or rebuilt before 1134. The historic bridge is 241.46 metres long and consists of fifteen arches; since 18 June 1963, it has been classified as a historic monument.
The Théâtre Municipal de Béziers was inaugurated in 1844. It is an Italian-style bonbonnière theatre and has fully preserved its original aesthetic. Every year, it offers a programme of theatre, dance, new circus, lyrical singing, music and performances for young audiences.
The Roman amphitheatre of Béziers was built in the 1st century AD. Surviving elements and the ancient layout have been restored and marked in the streetscape. An interactive augmented-reality presentation conveys the history of the amphitheatre.
The Cathédrale Saint Nazaire et Saint Celse stands on the remains of a Roman temple and a Romanesque cathedral and is listed as a historic monument. Individual visits are freely possible at any time; guided tours are available on request.
The Pont-Canal over the Orb is 240 metres long and 28 metres wide.
Nature
The Plateau des Poètes is a five-hectare garden in the city centre. Its features include an open-air theatre, grottoes, busts of Occitan poets and exotic plant species. Plateau des Poètes Park has been classified as a historic monument since 1995.
The Jardin des Évêques is laid out in terraces and offers views over the Orb plain and the Mediterranean.
