Culture and History
The Romanesque Church of Saint-Antoine de Cadoule was built in the 12th century as a stopping point for pilgrims on a route of the Saint James Way. In the Church of Saint-Julien, the organ of Baillargues is intended for concerts featuring German music from the 18th century. A venue in Baillargues dedicated exclusively to art regularly hosts exhibitions of painting, sculpture, visual arts and photography.
Getting Around
Baillargues’ multimodal transport hub has been in operation since the end of 2013. It enables travellers to reach Montpellier city centre in 8 minutes, with 81 trains running daily.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Baillargues can include the local churches, festivals and Palm Park in their travel plans.
At Palm Park, visitors can ride scooters and skateboards and practise BMX. Palm Park is located near Baillargues railway station.
Traditions and Events
The École de Raseteurs Baillargues Métropole trains young people aged 12 to 20 in the art of raset and in the traditions of the Camargue. The Fête du Taureau has been held every first Friday in June since 2009. The Fête du Taureau is free and open to everyone; it includes a commentary-led Camargue race.
Baillargues’ municipal arenas are rectangular, whereas most arenas are round.
