Salindres combines an industrial past with historic buildings and paths around the town. From 1860 to 1890, Salindres was the only aluminium production site in the world. The Salindres chemical plant was founded by Henry Merle, stood on the banks of the Avène, and changed its name several times.

History

The Church of Saint-André in Salindres was rebuilt in 1843 after being destroyed by a fire in 1703. The clock in the church tower strikes on the hour every hour.

The Tour Bécamel, also known as the Donjon de Becmil, is a former signal tower whose origins date back to the beginning of the 12th century. The municipality renovated the Tour Bécamel; surrounded by pine woodland, it is an increasingly popular destination for a walk.

The Château des Isnards is a fortified house built in the 16th century. It belongs to the municipality and is surrounded by a public garden; interior visits are currently not possible.

The Les Maisons moulées settlement was built in 1913 by Adrien Badin using cast reinforced concrete.

Around Salindres, the municipality has designated several easy and moderately challenging circular hiking trails. The town hall lends out map guides for hikes.

The Parc Municipal des Isnards is a wooded public area with an inclusive playground, swings, slides, and tables and benches for picnicking.

Salindres’ regular weekly market takes place at Place du Village in Salindres, where local producers sell their products. In 2026, it takes place on Fridays from 08:00 to 12:00.
