Culture and History
The Castellas was built around 1125 by the Lords of Sabran. It has recently come into the possession of the municipality and is being restored over many years as part of a long-term renovation project.
Ruins from the 12th century belonging to the Church of Sainte Madeleine have been preserved below the Castellas. The remains of the Romanesque Chapel of Saint Martin are protected as a historic monument. The present-day Church of Saint Victor replaced the former Church of Sainte Madeleine.
Notre Dame de Mayran is a Romanesque chapel in the shape of a Latin cross with three apses. In Notre Dame de Mayran, an upside-down Roman gravestone dedicated to the god Manes is set into the right pillar.
The magnaneries in Saint-Victor-la-Coste were used for silkworm farming between the 17th and 19th centuries.
