Lauraguel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the Razès countryside, Lauraguel combines rolling vineyards and grain fields with wooded peaks and slopes. The Albane River waters the village of Lauraguel before flowing into the Sou. East of Lauraguel lies a reservoir pond used for fishing; swimming there is expressly prohibited.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-André is the former chapel of Lauraguel Castle. Its bell tower is made of pink bricks; the church also has a 16th-century bell protected as a historic monument. At the entrance, there is a holy water stoup dating from 1656.

The Chemin de ronde follows the circular layout of the old village of Lauraguel and the former course of the defensive ditches. The cemetery cross is a sandstone monument dating from the 16th century and was placed under monument protection by ministerial decree of 16 July 1948.

The local cultural heritage also includes the Bassin-lavoir: it was donated to the municipality of Lauraguel in 1885, covered in June 1929, and renovated by the municipality in 2011. La Blagueuse is a local meeting place and a place of initiation associated with being recognized as a resident of Lauraguel.

Wine

Lauraguel has 120 hectares of vineyards within the « Côtes de Malepère » controlled designation of origin. Around twenty winegrowers in Lauraguel produce wine; vinification takes place at the Cave « les vignobles de Vendéole » in Routier. Domaine La Garenne is a family-run winery in Lauraguel in the Razès, where visitors can discover its wines.

Geographical Location

Lauraguel is located on the D623 departmental road between Limoux and Castelnaudary. Behind the Église Saint-André, there is free public parking with around 30 spaces, including one accessible space.
