Saint-Michel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The townscape of Saint-Michel includes two castles and a large bourgeois building. Anyone planning a stay in Saint-Michel can make the wish to rent a holiday apartment there part of their travel decision.

History

The former settlement of Saint-Michel was located in the Middle Ages on a hill northwest of the present-day town. In the 18th century, Saint-Michel was rebuilt in the valley along the road from Langres to Dijon.

The Maison forte de Saint-Michel is a manor house flanked by two round towers, once surrounded by moats, and built in the 15th century for the Bishop of Langres. The property is private and can only be viewed from the outside.

Culture

The Saint-Michel Church in Saint-Michel is said to have been built in 1818 using materials from an earlier building.

The Colombier du château de Grouchy à Saint-Michel is a round dovecote in the park of the former “De Grouchy” estate. It is located on private property and can only be viewed from the outside. The Pigeonnier de Saint-Michel is also a round dovecote; its roof is made of lava stone slabs. This property is also private and can only be viewed from the outside.

On Sunday, 20 September 2026, an exploration is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. in the Saint-Michel Church in Villegusien-le-Lac.

Nature

The formal area of the Parc du Nymphée comprises a large esplanade lined with a hornbeam arbor, followed by a round basin, a canal and a nymphaeum. A guided walk for all audiences was scheduled to take place there in 2025.
