Turny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Landscape

The hamlet of Fays, on the edge of the Forêt d’Othe, belongs to the municipality. At 299 m, Fays is the highest point in the Pays d’Othe and thus occupies a distinctive location within the municipality.

At Fays, there is a washhouse with a pond, a brick structure from the 19th century supplied exclusively by rainwater and surface water. Part of the pond served as a watering place for livestock and was separated from the washing area by a wall.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Mammès in Turny was built from 1518 under the auspices of Antoine de Lespinasse, the lord of the manor at the time. Since 1913, it has been protected as a monument historique.

The main construction phases of the Château des Varennes date from the 17th and 18th centuries. On 16 November 2015, the Château des Varennes was classified as a monument historique. The protected ensemble comprises the château, its bridge, the outbuildings, the platform, the water-filled moats, and two entrance pavilions of the farm.

Visitor Information

The key to the Church of Saint-Mammès is available at Turny Town Hall. The Château des Varennes is privately owned.

Hiking

The Le Haut des Sorins circular trail in Turny is an easy 6 km hike and takes about 2 hours. The Circuit du Fays starts at the washhouse with pond in Fays. It is a moderate 9 km hike and takes about 3 hours.
