The village centre is home to the Church of Saint-Laurent de Charentenay. The Church of Saint-Laurent in Charentenay has a tall, fortified square tower with substantial buttresses and is topped by small turrets.

Nature
The ZNIEFF area “Ensemble de carrières à Merry-le-Sec, Thury, Aubigny, Molesmes, Charentenay, Courson-les-Carrières, Champoux”, number 260014895, includes the municipality of Charentenay and covers 874.13 hectares. The ZNIEFF area encompassing Charentenay contains seven underground networks associated with typical woodland of the limestone plateaus and patches of dry grassland.
The underground quarry complex within this ZNIEFF area plays an important functional role in Burgundy for the overwintering of bats. The combined populations of all bat species exceed 5,500 individuals. In Charentenay, the area is regionally the largest site for greater mouse-eared bats and is also significant for greater horseshoe bats.
Under the Habitats Directive, the ZNIEFF area encompassing Charentenay is part of the Natura 2000 network under the name “CAVITES A CHAUVES SOURIS EN BOURGOGNE”.
Hiking
The “de l’Ardille” hiking trail starts in front of Charentenay’s sports ground, is 6 km long and has an indicated walking time of one and a half hours. It passes through the Vau de Givry towards the pine forests and then enters the Bois de Couarde, a forest with oaks, birches and other tree species.
The “du bois Joly” hiking trail starts at the town hall in Migé, is 13.3 km long and has an indicated walking time of around three hours. It runs alongside fields, cherry orchards and vineyards.
Upon reaching the village, the “du bois Joly” hiking trail follows Rue de la Poterne, passes the church and then continues along the main road towards Rue des Fouronnes.
