Culture and History
The Château de La Montagne acquired its present appearance in the 18th century; its original construction dates back to the 15th century. It is located in a hamlet covering more than 25 hectares, which is listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments and comprises 20 buildings as well as a tree-filled park.
The Poterie-Faïencerie La Montagne operated in Saint-Honoré-les-Bains from 1835 to 1926. The building of the Poterie de la Montagne is classified as a historic monument. The parish church of Saint-Loup contains stained-glass windows made in Tours by Lucien Lobin between 1872 and 1889.
The former Saint-Honorat priory was built in the 12th century and is classified as a Cluniac site. In the Parc Thermal, benches, pools and stairways are decorated with mosaics made from Briare enamel, created by the artist Christian Gerber in 1950.
Nature and Activities
At the Étang des Sources, there is a fishing jetty for people with disabilities, as well as the “Pêche Famille” label. The Parc Champêtre is an eight-hectare natural area with a fitness trail, children’s play facilities, a plant maze and a picnic area with barbecues.
The “La Perle du Morvan” circular hiking trail is 11 km long and offers a shorter 9 km loop; it is associated with Saint-Honoré-les-Bains.
